This evening’s Men’s Cold Weather Shelter Community Meeting has been cancelled due to the weather. Also, all future community meeting dates have been revised to the following: January 19th February 7th March 7th All meetings will still be held at the Corvallis Public Library. These meetings will feature information about the operations of the shelter, how those operations have changed in response to community suggestions, and an update on housing and homelessness issues in the community.

This past Friday, the recently formed Scholars Social and Service Youth group donated several needed items to the men’s shelter. The youth group chooses an organization to contribute to every month. In October, they chose to collect donations for Corvallis Housing First. The youth group stopped by the shelter last Friday to drop off the donations. Both the Men’s and Women’s Corvallis Cold Weather Shelters officially opened last night. The men’s shelter is located at 530 SW 4th Street and the women’s shelter is located in the community center at the First United Methodist Church, 1165 NW Monroe Ave. Beds at the cold weather women’s shelter. Both shelters open at 7pm each night and clients must check-in by 8pm. The shelters close at 7am the next morning. Thank you to everyone who attended the Open House last Sunday at the Men’s Cold Weather Shelter. Over 100 people took the opportunity to explore the shelter and the offered services by Corvallis Housing First. In the 2015-2016 winter season, over 250 homeless men were provided a warm place to sleep at the shelter during the coldest weather in Oregon.
